Magento+Joomla! (status update II)

Good morning everyone,

I’m releasing the first public version of the Magento/Joomla! integration using JFusion 1.0.5e. This plugin has been designed for work with Joomla! 1.5.2 and Magento 1.0. I hope you can help me testing and improving it.

I’ve set up a testing matrix with some test cases, you can access it through Google Docs and help me fill the “gray” boxes ;P.

To test, use the following instructions:
- Download JFusion 1.0.5e, install, configure and publish everything that should be published. (if you need help, read the docs at http://www.jfusion.org )
- Download my new plugin
- Remove the default Magento plugin (under “Integration Config”: select “magento” and remove)
- Click on “upload” under the “Integration Config” screen to upload the new version of magento.tar.gz, click on “Install” and smile.
- Go back to “Integration config”, edit the new “magento” plugin according to your STORE configuration.
- Test and give some feedback: bigodines #at@ joomla.com.br

please help me fill the test matrix!!

Cheers

Does the use of jfusion mean that magento will be the “master database” when it comes to handling users, logins, lost pw, etc.?

Right now im just using Joomla but need to add a shop, if should only be avalible to our authorized resellers.
Currently using community builder as well to get the function to authorize which users that can register and not.
This would cause me some trouble, right?

    yes and no.

Yes, it will use magento as a master dabatase, no, you cannot choose different user levels. You can choose if the logged users will be flagged as registered, authors, etc… in your joomla site. Magento ACL will work only inside magento.

BTW: Plugin is not working inside JFusion 1.0.6+

    Looking forward to seeing it

I see that 1.0.6c alpha is out but I can’t see 1.0.5e on the JFusion site. Will your extension work with newest JFusion alpha?

I’m going to try running J!1.5 with new Magento + your plugin using a usbstick as the webserver. It’s fun developing offline in a controlled environment.

Thanks for Any help. I’ll be a first time user of Magento and JFusion on J!1.5 . I’ll check back here soon. :)

    Hi,

I didn’t find the JFusion version 1.0.5e anymore.
The latest version is 1.0.6c and the magento plugin doesn’t work with it.

I’ve been using Virtuemart for a while, and I only use it because it’s the only shopping cart solution for Joomla. It’s poorly coded, s-l-o-w, buggy, and difficult to style (entirely in-line php!) From what I’ve seen of Magento so far is that it’s much faster and more stable, and hopefully it’s not too much of a pain to style. I’m not a programmer, but if there is ANYTHING I can do to support the movement of this integration, PLEASE let me know. I’m tired of being trapped by the buggy mess known as Virtuemart!

I’ve done everything in these instructions, but JFusion can’t find my DB for some reason.

Also, am I to assume that the Magento installation is separate from this process? This looks like it’s simply a bridge. If so, how does Magento display? Do you access the Magento backend through Joomla, or separately?

I’m no programmer so I assume that there’s probably a good reason for not just making Magento into a Joomla component, or is that the idea?
